Short films for French learning in Sweden
The French Institute in Stockholm has renewed its partnership with UR, a channel from the Swedish public television, and launched a new season of "Filmklubben", a film club whose particularity is to broadcast only short films and propose them as supports for learning French.
The "Filmklubben" was created to provide French teachers a more satisfying pedagogical tool than the film parts they used until then. Short films confront students with a story that has a beginning and an end, a message and so better involve this type of audience.
The short films selected by UR never last more than fifteen minutes, and can therefore be used as part of a one-hour course. A teaching pack is alsa provided, which offers for example discussion topics.
The interest for the "Filmklubben" concept gave birth to three other programmes "Filmklubben" for learning English, Spanish and German.
Original but taken with a familiar reality, the short films "Filmklubben" their power to make learning exciting and up to date. The twenty new titles "Filmklubben" will be released in December 2010 and January 2011 on UR and accessible for six months on its website, then it will be distributed to teachers in libraries and also available for sale from UR.
