Schule im Wandel - Training programme for teachers
The "Schule im Wandel" training course aims to train language teachers effectively and prepare them for the growing responsibilities and expectations associated with their profession. Six countries took part in the three-year project, to develop 46 short films for teachers, which make up a programme of continuous professional development. Each film contains interviews, video clips of classrooms in action, and teaching ideas. The films show a range of different lessons in action in schools across Europe; either in German or with German subtitles.
The films are intended to promote discussion and reflection, and are accompanied by activities, links and ideas for further work. Each is referenced back to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and provides suggestions for further reading. They are aimed at deepening teachers’ knowledge, and improving their linguistic, media and pedagogical competences.
The set of videos can be accessed online for independent study; via a self contained set of DVD, CD and handbook; or using blended learning, working in groups with a dedicated tutor.
Schule im Wandel is available for purchase through the Goethe Institut in Munich. Teachers and institutions in the UK who would like to order hard copies of the materials should contact Alicia Padrós: padros[at]goethe.de for further information.
