A new Icelandic language learning website just opened

22/11/2010

A new website allowing distance-learning of the Icelandic language has been officially opened by the Vigdis Finnbogadottir Institute of Foreign Languages. The website is called icelandiconline.is and is open to internet users everywhere.

Islandic Online is a free beginner's and intermediate course in Icelandic from the University of Iceland.

The language learning website is aimed more at adults than children and includes a special course for foreigners who are living in an Icelandic-speaking environment. The website is interactive and teaching takes place in Icelandic.

There is also an Icelandic Online dictionary and readings available. This is a free-access, Web-based resource developed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison which complements the Internet course Icelandic Online.
