European Cooperation for Regional Language Broadcasting Conference, Cardiff (UK)

The Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity (NPLD) and the Welsh television channel S4C are holding a joint conference, entitled ‘European Cooperation for Regional Language Broadcasting’. The conference will be held in Cardiff, Wales on 8th-9th December 2011.

busuu.com wins the European Language Label for innovative projects in language learning

busuu.com has been awarded with the European Language Label!, the award co-ordinated by the European Commission. busuu.com has received this prize in Spain for the ”new initiatives in the field of teaching and learning languages, rewarding new techniques in language teaching, spreading the knowledge of their existence and thereby promoting good practice”.

ELDIA project - European language diversity for all

ELDIA (European Language Diversity for All) is an interdisciplinary research project for reconceptualizing, promoting and re-evaluating individual and societal multilingualism. It will be running until 2013. Experts on applied linguistics and sociolinguistics, law, social studies and statistics, drawn from eight universities in six European countries, work together to contribute to a better understanding of how local, “national” and “international” (vehicular) languages interact in contemporary Europe.
