The English workshop of the REAL seminar “How to motivate students: innovation and creativity in the language classroom” took place at the Department for Polish Language and Culture in the World. The English workshop was run by Elisabeth Fotheringham, independent language consultant and was attended by 19 teachers of English from countries from the UK to Greece.

In this workshop held at the seminar “How to motivate students: innovation and creativity in language classes” teachers of Polish as a foreign language from a wide variety of countries and teaching to a variety of different groups came together to explore how to make their lessons more interactive and creative.

This workshop, held at a REAL seminar in Krakow, August 2010, demonstrates how action and student-oriented activities can be integrated into lessons without it having a detrimental effect on everyday textbook-based work. On the contrary, it was clearly shown how using supplementary resources to cover classroom topics can help to make German foreign language teaching interactive, creative and motivating.

A new report on the Ministry of Education/British Council Bilingual Schools project in Spain has been released, which includes perceptions of students, teachers and heads of schools. It presents the findings of an independent three-year investigation into the programme.
