> What is REAL?

A network:

REAL is today a network of around 140 language teacher associations. Together we represent over 150,000 teachers of languages across the European Union, and in the LLP states.

A team:

REAL is currently led by a core group of eight associations, in collaboration with the French agency for international matters in the field of education, CIEP.

A project

The REAL team has successfully bid for funding from the European Commission to develop our work with language teacher associations. For the next three years, the REAL team will explore ways in which language teacher associations can collaborate, learn from one another and work together to promote language learning in the European Union and support language teachers. This project is called REAL2.

The REAL team believes in the power of teacher associations and their potential to influence and advise not just their members but authorities - local, regional and national - whose policy and practice ultimately determines successful outcomes for both language learners and language teachers.

Language teacher associations are a force for change in language learning, we have huge common ground and common experience to share.

The REAL team hopes that all language teacher associations across the Union will share our goals and join us in our work and our activities.

Let's make REAL the voice of language teachers in Europe!
