In 2010, more than hundred children from Danemark gathered in a friendly atmosphere to perform their plays in French. This event aims at promoting a playbased teaching of French and will take place again in 2011 in Odense (Denmark).

British Education Secretary Michael Gove announced a pioneering new partnership with China to train 1000 more Mandarin teachers for secondary schools in England. According to the Department for Education, Mandarin is an increasingly popular subject choice for GCSE, but there are only around 100 qualified Mandarin teachers in England at the moment, and only 16 per cent of secondary schools offered Chinese language teaching in 2009.

Like every year, the association of the French teachers of Catalogna APFC (Association des professeurs de français de Catalogne) will be organising the Theater and school radio contact in Spring 2011. Registrations will be open in February, teachers will have the opportunity to do motivating activities in class and to present them at the contest.

A new website allowing distance-learning of the Icelandic language has been officially opened by the Vigdis Finnbogadottir Institute of Foreign Languages. The website is called icelandiconline.is and is open to internet users everywhere.

Fünf Millionen junge Europäer suchen Arbeit. Da vielen von ihnen die erforderlichen Qualifikationen bzw. Erfahrungen fehlen, sind ihre Möglichkeiten jedoch begrenzt. Die Leitinitiative „Jugend in Bewegung“ soll den betroffenen jungen Menschen dabei helfen, das Wissen und die Fähigkeiten zu erwerben bzw. die Erfahrung zu sammeln, die sie für ihre erste Arbeitsstelle benötigen.
