To know us better through our popular festivals and traditions - Comenius project

Every country has an history, a culture and traditions. Popular traditions and festivals belong to and are living proofs of this heritage. Discovering and sharing knowledge about these festivals and popular traditions, is a way to know each other better, but also to develop a new community through the consciousness of the European dimension.

Seven schools, in seven countries, are involved in this project, which is composed of 6 different fields:

For the year 2010-2011:

• gastronomy, cookery
• architecture, buildings
• tales, legends.

For the year 2011-2012:

• popular events and festivals
• characters, historical figures
• folklore, music, dance.

The fundings in each of these fields will be presented on the website. The common construction of a party game with questions/answers stemming from all the realizations will be a driving element of this project.

Comenius Programme

The Comenius Programme focuses on all levels of school education, from pre-school and primary to secondary schools. It is relevant for everyone involved in school education: mainly pupils and teachers but also local authorities, representatives of parents’ associations, non-government organisations, teacher training institutes and universities.
Part of the Lifelong Learning Programme, Comenius seeks to develop knowledge and understanding among young people and educational staff of the diversity of European cultures, languages and values. It helps young people acquire the basic life skills and competences necessary for their personal development, for future employment and for active citizenship.
