ForMoove - European awareness and mobility projects for schools

16/12/2011

ForMoove is a brand-new training course designed to equip teachers and other school staff with the knowledge and skills to get their school involved in European mobility projects.

Why participate ?

Taking part in the training course will give you the chance not only to find out about the wide range of European projects and initiatives on offer, but will provide you with the practical skills to allow you to confidently take up the role of project coordinator or partner.

Broaden your network! The course will provide a perfect opportunity to meet teachers and school staff from other European countries. These encounters will hopefully plant the seeds for successful European projects in the future.

ForMoove in short

What is it ?

A training course for primary and secondary level teachers and teacher trainers of all subjects as well as other school staff interested in running European school mobility projects.

When will it take place?

Two separate courses are planned: one to be run in French from 25-29 June 2012 and the other in English: 9-13 July 2012.

Which working language(s) will be used?

All participants must have a good understanding of the relevant course working language, either French or English depending on the dates chosen.

Where will it take place?

At the Centre international d’études pédagogiques (CIEP) in Sèvres (near Paris, France).

Are there any funding opportunities available?

School staff from countries eligible to take part in the Lifelong Learning programme except for France (EU, EFTA, Turkey, Croatia) have the option of applying for EU funding. The deadline for funding applications is 16 January 2012.

School staff from France may be eligible for funding support by using the plan académique de formation or by using the droit individuel à la formation (DIF).

Rationale

Projects linking up foreign schools including a ‘mobility’ element (i.e. periods of stay abroad), are widely acknowledged as being positive ways of expanding pupils’ knowledge and bringing the school curriculum to life. However, teachers are often reluctant to get involved, unsure about how exactly to make the application or how to manage the project itself.

ForMoove aims to provide some of the answers to these concerns by helping school teachers and leaders:

  • Make their approach to project management more professional
  • Decipher the array of European programmes on offer (in particular, Comenius school partnerships and eTwinning)
  • Learn about project-based pedagogy to support virtual or physical mobility
  • Find out how to better manage mobility for all groups (students, assistants and teachers).
