To mark the European Day of Languages on 26th September 2011, ALL North East is inviting schools in the region to participate in their annual pupil competition. All across our country, people know, use and learn languages; the European Day of Languages is an opportunity to celebrate what we do, whatever the language!
"To know us better through our popular festivals and traditions" is a project that has been funded through the Comenius programme. 7 schools are participating in this project that aims at exploring the richness of their home cultures, history, and traditions.
In Europe, there are roughly 70 country borders. Among those, 25 are language borders. Through eTwinning, many schools are crossing these borders by learning each other’s languages. eTwinning projects between neighbouring countries are ideal for language learning because they allow pupils to not only enrich their cognitive skills in terms of language acquisition, but also their social and academic abilities.
